Indiana trip+ NOTW

I'm Back!!!! I had a wonderful time in Indiana, but I missed y'all so much!  My sister doesn't have Internet so I was Internet-less for a week, which was really hard!  Lol

First, I want to show a few pictures from my trip and later I'll show some pictures of my nails during the week!

This trip was very monumental to me.  Why?  Because it was my first time EVER on a plane!!  My family never travels by plane because of the cost and we've never had to travel anywhere that was farther than 12 hours away, yes we've drove 12 hours straight from my home in Texas to New Mexico!  I had mixed emotions about the trip, but I was excited to experience something new.  I'm deathly afraid of heights so for the first half of the trip I sat by the isle and didn't even think about looking out the window!  On our connecting flight I decided to sit by the window so I could take some pictures.

I took this picture right after we left Chicago!  The view was so beautiful!!!

Nail Polish Spotlight: Revlon Whimsical

Hey guys!  I was looking through my pictures and found a bunch of photos of polishes that haven't made it onto the blog yet!  I hope to get all caught up soon, hopefully in the next few weeks!  : )

First, I want to let everyone know that the winner of my "Birthday Giveaway" was announced and she did contact me!  Congrats again Ashley A.!!!  I will send your prize out tomorrow or Monday! : )

Okay now onto this post!  Today the nail polish spotlight in going to shine over Revlon's Whimsical!

I applied 4 coats of Whimsical over 1 coat of Sally Hansen's "White Out".

Revlon Whimsical is a sheer blue-grey polish with various sized blue, pink, and iridescent glitter.  When I first saw this polish in stores I wasn't really a big fan.  I could instantly tell that it was sheer and it wasn't worth $4 to me.  Later, once I got into nail polish community on Facebook, I find out that this polish was an exact dupe of Deborah Lippmann's "Glitter in the Air" and that it looked amazing over blue/teal polish.

I bought Whimsical while Revlon was on sale at my local grocery store and was still on the fence about it, but hey I only paid $2 for it so I wasn't complaining!  I tried wearing it by itself, which was an EPIC fail.  Then I decided to apply it over a white polish, which is what you see above.  The glitter did spread nicely, but I had an issue with the color being a little uneven.  Now I'm going to be honest, I don't like this polish!  I wore this mani for 3-4 days and it never grew on me.  I don't know if it's that fact that I had to apply a bazillion coats or if I just didn't like it over white.  Next time I think I'm going to wear it over a blue, pink, or purple polish and see if I like it better.

Here's a close up shot!  (Excuse my poor clean-up job.)

Julep Maven Box: July 2012

Hey guys!  Today I'm going to show y'all the things that I got in my July Julep Maven box!  Theme for this month was all about sparkle and glitter, and boy do I LOVE glitter!!!  This month was a little different from the other months that I've been a maven.  You see, this month Julep was giving a free special polish to all of the mavens depending on where you live.  All of the American mavens got "America", a patriotic polish filled with small red, blue, and silver glitter and silver stars!  Canadian mavens got a clear polish filled with small red and iridescent glitter!  I had a hard time picking which box I would get, but in the end I decided to switch from American Beauty to Boho Glam and add on Mila and Freida.

The shipping was incredibly fast, I got my box in three days to be exact!!  I'm definitely impressed by Julep's speedy shipping and awesome customer service!

Now let's get into the box!

Here's the inside of my box!  The fireballs were a nice touch, but I couldn't eat them because my stomach doesn't like spicy things! : (

Pretty & Polished Haul + Swatches!

Hey y'all!  Today I'm going to show y'all the polishes that I bought from Pretty & Polished a few weeks ago!!!  I've been doing some research on indie brand polishes and decided that I was going to take the plunge and buy a few.  A few ended up being 12 in two days, yeah I kind of went a little crazy!

I started stalking researching Pretty & Polished since that was the brand that I saw a lot of fellow polish bloggers and addicts drooling over.  One time stalked her Etsy store during a sale just to see how fast her polishes go, and boy do they go fast!  I'm pretty sure all of her polishes went in about 10-15 minutes!  After I saw that sale I knew that if I wanted to have any chance to get her polishes I would have to be quick!

Chels announced another restock on her facebook page a couple weeks later and I began my preparation for combat shopping!  I opened three different pages and refreshed them like crazy about 10 minutes before the sale was live.  I ended up getting all of the polishes that I wanted and was amazed that my plan worked!!!  The shipping was lightning fast and I received my polishes in about 3 business days.

Nail Tutorial: American Flag Nails

Hey y'all I know it's been a couple of days since the 4th, but I still wanted to share my 4th of July mani with y'all!  First, I hope that everyone had a safe and eventful holiday!!!  My family stayed in and ate LOTS of barbecue and watched a few foreign movies, kung fu hiya!  My town had to cancel the annual flight fest, which meant no fireworks. : (  I wasn't going to post this, but I thought that this design could be worn for the Olympics ( I freaking LOVE the Olympics)!!!
