Julep Maven Box: August 2012

Hello everybody! I hope you all are having a fabulous Sunday!  Are any of y'all obsessed with the Olympics like I am!  My TV hasn't changed channels since the Opening Ceremony!

Anyway, I got my Julep Maven box last week and I wanted to show you guys what I got!  This month's theme was about all about metallic and chrome polishes.  I've begin to notice that this trend is becoming very popular in the nail world.  I wasn't too excited about the polishes this month, but I ended up getting a free box because two people signed up with my referral link. (Thanks ladies)

Maven Box haul!!!  This month I decided to stay with my profile, American Beauty, and got a small bag as a freebie, non-acetone nail polish remover, and three polishes:  Stefani, Dakota, and Piper (add-on)!

This month was the Maven Program's first birthday! Happy Birthday Julep!!!!
The tote bag is a lot smaller that I thought it would be, but hey it was free so I can't complain.

To see close-ups and swatches of the polishes, click "Read More".

First I'm going to show y'all the product that came in this month's box.

This is Julep's Acetone Free conditioning nail polish remover.  I was really excited to try this out and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!  I did have a hard time trying to figure out how to use it, I'm not used to products that dispense like this, but I did get the hang of it after awhile.  The remover takes off polish with ease and I didn't have any major problems with taking off glitter polishes, although I do prefer pure acetone over Julep's polish remover to take off glitter polish.

The first color that I got this month is Stefani, a metallic grey with small gold flecks.

Sorry for the blurry image.  The application was very smooth and I had no problems with streaking.  It's not a color that I would buy on my own but it's an okay color. I'll definitely have to be in a dark colors mood to pick this one up and wear it.  (2 coats)

The next color I got is Dakota, a beautiful rose gold polish.

This was the color that I was most excited about!!!  The application was great and I didn't have many brush stroke lines.  My polish did bubble a bit, but that was my fault. (2 coats)

The last polish that I got was Piper, a metallic minty-teal color.

This. Color. Is. Gorgeous!!!  I wasn't planning on getting any add-ons, but once I saw this color I knew that I had to have it!  The application was okay, definitely the worst out of the three.  The polish is a bit sheer, you can see my nail line in the photo above.  I also had some streaking problems with Piper.  (3 coats)

So that is all that I got in my Maven box this month.  Did you get a box?  Which profile did you pick?  Let me know in the comments below.
